Official iPhone sees tiny sales in China

Last week China Unicom began selling the Apple iPhone officially in China for the first time ever, making the smartphone available to over 200 million subscribers.

Unicom is seemingly fighting for sales however, and 9to5mac is reporting that only 5000 units have been sold since launch. Bloomberg News adds that Apple expects only 460,000 iPhones to sell in the nation per year, a number less than the amount of grey market units that are sold there (for less than Unicom’s price.)

Each model of the official phone (8GB or 32GB) can be purchased with 3-year contract but the prices are very expensive. The smaller capacity model will sell for 4,999 yuan ($700+ USD) and the larger model will sell for 6,999 yuan ($1000+ USD). Each is also lacking Wi-Fi due to government regulation.

7 Idiot Ways to Slow Down Your Vista !

If your computer is too fast for you, just follow the 10 methods outline here, I guarantee your Vista will never be slower!

Method #1 – Decreases your RAM

This is my favorite way, just take out or downgrade your RAM to 512 MB, anything below that your computer will not move!

Method #2 – Do not use ReadyBoost

ReadyBoost will accelerate your computer faster, especially after you downgraded your RAM, you must remove it or your computer will not be slower.

Method #3 – Install more software

If you want to slow down start up, just install as much start up software (Skype, messenger, Anti Virus, Anti Spyware…) as possible, guarantee to work every time. Method #4 – Enable page file but decrease the size

DSi XL confirmed for Europe following DSi LL release

Nintendo has confirmed that following today’s launch of the updated DSi LL handheld in Japan, the same system, just dubbed the DSi XL will hit Europe in the Q1 2010.

The updated system includes a 4.2-inch screen, dual pens and better battery life then the DSi.

“Nintendo today confirms that a new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010,” says the gaming company. “The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi. Further details will be released soon.”

The handheld retails for the equivalent of $220 USD in Japan.

Nintendo to launch DSi with larger screen

The Japanese Nikkei is reporting that Nintendo is planning to release a new version of the popular DSi handheld in Japan, one that will include a larger screen.

Nintendo says DS/DSi demand has fallen significantly over the past few months and the gaming company is looking for a boost.

The current handheld has a 3.25-inch screen and the updated version will get a 4-inch screen, about the same size as rival Sony’s PSP

KBC Securities analyst Hiroshi Kamide says of the move: “A bigger screen alone does not count for much…Nintendo is under pressure from iPhone and iTouch.” Kamide adds that Nintendo needs to add a more powerful processor and better graphics as well.

The new DSi will sell for 18,900 yen (about $205 USD).

The Nikkei also added that Nintendo will be offering a DSi with “more robust anti-piracy features” in China and South Korea by March of next year to help contain the rampant piracy in those markets.
