The Best Way to Conduct a Windows XP Repair

It is a nasty problem when your operating system collapses.? The best way to deal with a Windows XP repair can be a complete reinstallation of the system.? Before you start a reinstall, I strongly urge you to back up any data you have on your hard disk to alternate media.? CDs, external drives, and flash memory are great places to store your important documents, pictures, and music before you muck around with your operating system.

Built in Repairs for Windows
Windows XP comes with a built in repair function.? You will, however, need to have an installation CD to activate the routine.? You should have received this CD when you purchased your computer, and hopefully you still know where it is.

Getting Started After the Back Up
After backing up your data, reboot the computer with the recovery CD installed.? A prompt will ask you to press any key to boot from the CD.? Go ahead and press a key.? Your screen will turn blue and the computer will begin to load Windows XP Setup from the provided CD.

When the files have completed loading, you will be asked if you wish to set up Windows XP.? You want to be careful not to enter the recovery console here, rather go ahead and select “To set up Windows XP now, press Enter.”? Your next step is to agree to the EULA.

To Repair or Replace Windows XP?

If Windows Setup can find a copy of Windows XP on your drive, it will offer you the option of repair rather than replace.? If your copy of XP is too corrupted, you will only have the option of replacing the operating system.? Remember, if you have to re-install the entire system, you will lose all your data.? Aren?t you glad you backed it all up?? (You did back it up, right?)

Almost Finished with the Windows Re-Install
Even if you ask for a repair, it will appears as if Windows is re-installing itself.? Wait it out, it isn?t resetting any of your settings or erasing your data.? Stay near by or at least check on it periodically, in case it requests your CD key.

When the installation is complete, reactivate your security features.? You don?t want to go online until you are protected again or you will be very vulnerable.? Head to Microsoft and download any updates applicable to Windows XP.

Another Option in Computer Maintenance
If all this seems like a lot of work and you want to try out something simpler first, read more about a good registry cleaner.? Registry cleaners can tidy up the registry, an operating system’s organizational subsystem, and help a computer run faster and better.? With either solution, your computer should be much healthier, and that is a good thing.

Why Choose Xp Over Vista ? Get Them Both !

Every computer enthusiast is screaming to throw away Vista and use XP instead. I won’t argue if you are using XP now, what if you are getting a new PC? Do you still ask for XP? I seriously urge you to reconsider, because you can keep both advantages if you choose Vista!

Bad things about Vista

Just to name a few:

1. Vista is big and bulgy

2. Full of fancy but unwanted features

3. Consumed too much memory

4. Slow start up

5. Slow files’ transfer

…There are tons of these complaints on the net, but the fact still remain: Vista included most features available in XP, meaning you can remove those features and downgrade to XP similar Windows! Therefore, my question is: Why do you still go for XP if your Vista can be XP? Stability? Don’t think so.

Good things about Vista

You cannot ignore Vista advanced services to deliver better experience! Trust me on this: Vista will stabilize eventually, and to enjoy the potential of future hardware upgrades, you should always consider Vista rather than XP! Even for office user, just strip all the functions until became XP! You don’t want to spend more money in the future to enjoy Vista when it’s finally stabilized.

Some tweak to speed up Vista

There are many information and tools to tweak Vista and speed up Vista dramatically! You should use them to your advantages, I guarantee your Vista will never be slower than XP!

Conclusion: Use Windows XP if you are just upgrading your hardware, you don’t have to buy a new license. However, if you are purchasing new hardware, save your money on Vista so that you don’t have to upgrade your Windows later, I think you already know the math, don’t be confused by the rumors!

How Do I Speed Up Windows Xp? – the Answer

Windows XP does provide us with a quality performance, but lately, you do not think that you have been getting the best out of your operating system. You always find it working a little bit slower than usual, and sometimes, you just want to switch into a different operating system at once. If you always find yourself always asking ‘How do I speed up Windows XP?’ then do not fret anymore.

First is eliminating programs which always run on start-up mode. Some may find this a little bit hard to do, thinking that there is absolutely no way to stop them all, since others are in the Start up folder, and some are part of the logon scripts. Little do you know, there is a way for these programs to stop running, only with a little bit of perseverance on your part. A way to do this is to clean up your Startup folder. It is advised that you delete the short cut keys of the programs that you barely use in your computer. You do not have to worry about deleting the short cut keys, because when you do this, you do not really delete the whole program itself, but just the short cut to that program. To go to this folder, go to Documents and Settings and click on the username that you want to get in. Click Start Menu, go to Programs, and then Start Up. You may now remove the unnecessary short cut keys which hinders the full performance speed of your computer.

Another way to prevent you from the perpetual question ‘how do I speed Windows XP’ is to clean up another folder, which is the Scheduled Tasks folder. Delete every short cut program that you do not want to run on specific times. You can go to this folder by accessing C:WindowsTasks.

Using the Systems Configuration Utility is another way to speed up your Windows XP. By using this utility, you would have the option to stop some programs from running at start-up, and this will eventually make your computer run faster than it would. All you have to do is to run msconfig at a command prompt, and click OK. This would eventually stop the other programs from running at random during start-up making your computer to eventually run faster than it did before.

Speeding up shutdown times is also one way to get the maximum performance out of your Windows XP. You may run the Registry Editor by going to the Start button and clicking Run. Type regedit and go to this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management. Make sure to change the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to zero, then close the registry and restart your computer. Exercise caution when you edit the Registry because this can do a lot of damage to your computer. Know first what you are editing in the Registry before editing it. These tips will surely prevent you from asking ‘how do I speed up Windows XP’ in no time.

Windows Xp Registry Cleaner – Best Registry Cleaner for Windows Xp

The windows registry is one of most important components in your Windows XP operating system. You can think of it as a huge database that contains all the information about their hardware, profile, programs, settings etc.

The windows registry isn’t permanent and it is constantly being edited. If you have experienced slow or sluggish PC performance after a period of time, the problem is mostly related to your windows registry.

Today, there are many spyware and Trojans that can alter your windows registry automatically if your computer is infected. These spyware can damage your operating system rendering it to be unable to boot up at all.

That is why you should always install a windows XP registry cleaner to periodically clean the entries in your windows registry.

Although it is possible to edit the windows registry manually, I would not advise you to do it as it is quite complicated and technical for the average person. If you accidentally delete or changed an entry, it can cause your windows XP to be unable to boot up properly. Plus, it is almost impossible to know what needs to be deleted or changed since there are millions of entries in a windows registry.

A windows registry cleaner can scan and repair your windows registry faster than any human can and it can do this as a background task without interrupting your work.

There are probably hundreds of registry cleaners on the market these days, some are free and some require a one time payment. So it can be difficult to know which is the best registry cleaner for windows XP.

The best windows XP registry cleaner should be easy to use and it should only require a small memory load. Some registry cleaners consume so much memory when it is scanning that your computer becomes sluggish immediately.

Thankfully, most registry cleaners provide a free trial download before you purchase so you can test it out on your computer to see its performance before deciding.

If you are looking for the best windows XP registry cleaner, i highly recommend registryfix. Check out my Registry Fix review here.
